Crack and Havana Present...

Crack returns to Start The Bus with Thought Forms, Anika and Andrew Hung

Crack and Havana Present...

One of the most eagerly anticipated parties Crack Magazine and Havana Club have thrown so far, the party showed up in Start The Bus for an evening of high quality and original music.

One of the best line-ups they've staged across this new music season, the evening was off to a fine start with Crack’s resident DJ Danvers’ fine blend of soulful house, slowly propelling people into party mode.

First to bat was Thought Forms, the latest band signing to the ever-consistent Invada label. Drawing comparisons to luminaries such as Mogwai, Thought Forms’ sound is drawn from soaring guitar effects and loud, loud noise. A number of their tracks steadily build to maximized crescendos and brilliant spine tingling moments. A beautiful noise from a band with a big future, this was spellbinding music.

Following Thought Forms, Invada label mate Anika provided a sterling DJ set incorporating electronica, krautrock and post-punk gems for a beautiful slice of indie dance floor sounds. Her stock continues to rise as the first lady of the Invada imprint, and her set showcased a number of stronger influences.

Finally, one-half of Fuck Buttons, Andrew Hung, polished off proceedings with a DJ set of the highest calibre. Featuring the full spectrum twisted electronica with everything from Four Tet to driving hard techno, bodies lined the Start the Bus dance floor for an hour and a-half until the end. Seamlessly pieced together, Hung’s side-project DJ direction could take up a greater permanency if tonight’s set is anything to go by.

The party tonight is a showcase of innovation, and credit must go to Havana Club, who continue to push these new acts to a interested Bristol audience.
