Washed Out

14/20

Washed Out have been on our radar for sometime after two scintillating, spine tingling EP releases that definitely transported us somewhere balmier and prettier than South Bristol.

Featuring the hottest front cover since the Strokes got their leather out an eon ago, their drifting, haunting sound could certainly compliment intercourse as well as depicting it. Lionel Richie, however, this is not. This is a really polished, classy debut record.

Washed Out (Aka – Ernest Greene) are fronting the rather shaky ‘chillwave’ genre that seems to have reared its tenuous head of late, Within Or Without is cleaner sounding than the previous EPs which is arguably to Greene’s detriment as some of the haze is definitely lost in the clean-up operation. A lovely sensual and assured debut nonetheless.
