The antithesis of what certain aspects of the dubstep scene have morphed into, production duo Darkstar represent a flood of new producers incorporating two-step and a minimal melodic sound into the production. Signed to Kode 9’s ridiculously consistent Hyperdub label, Darkstar make really sweet melodic pop and have consciously chosen to ditch the notion that to have anything to do with dubshotep means your ribs have to be in a state of perpetual bass spasm. Standout track Aidy’s Girl Is A Computer is a tender, melodic cut, that found its way into the box of intelligent DJs everywhere in the last six months.
