WELSH MUSIC PRIZE AWARDED TO FUTURE OF THE LEFT

Abrasive angular rock won out at last year’s second Welsh Music Prize. Edging out exceptional offerings from the the likes of Cate le Bon, Islet and Kutosis, Future of the Left’s third record The Plot Against Common Sense followed in the footsteps of Gruff Rhys’s Hotel Shampoo, the recipient of the 2011 award. Seemingly genuinely surprised, FotL, who formed from the ashes of legendary Welsh bands Mclusky and Jarcrew, said “We’re a naughty band made up of naughty people, but we’re proud to create a piece of art. To get something like this makes you feel accepted.”
