The West Coast producer sat down with Lamar last night to talk about the rapper’s new record, To Pimp a Butterfly.
In an reverb-heavy interview for Lotus’s Radio 1 residency, the pair also discussed hip hop, artistry, and matters more personal. The rapper said he has recurring dreams about his childhood, “whether that’s waking up in the morning, looking at cartoons, going outside and playing basketball, or doing backflips.”
The rapper and producer have been in close contact since Lotus’s You’re Dead!, on which Kendrick guest-starred on Never Catch Me. Lotus spoke recently on the inception of To Pimp a Butterfly, suggesting that new beats for his Captain Murphy project inspired the record’s concept.
