Morrissey says crowd-funded projects are “desperate and insulting”

It’s common knowledge that the digital era has presented serious challenges to the music industry. In a climate where even high-profile artists struggle to generate profit from their recorded music, crowd-funding websites such as Kickstarter are frequently used to fund recording sessions, documentaries and other projects.

Morrissey, however, seems to have condemned the practice. Noisey have pointed towards an interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais, in which Morrissey is quoted as saying that crowd-funding is “a desperate measure, and insulting to your audience. We have already provided sufficient amounts of money. What is the next thing you’re going to ask? What brush our teeth?”

Morrissey recently shared a video for Kiss Me A Lot, a track taken from his 2014 album World Peace is None of Your Business. You can watch that below.
