Simple Things Festival Announce First Wave of Acts

Simple Things Festival have just shared the first wave of line-up announcements for their 2015 event.

After last year’s event drew in huge crowds, the multi-venue festival returns with another huge line-up. Post-rock titans Godspeed You! Black Emperor will open the festival on Friday 23 October with a concert at Bristol’s Colston Hall. The nine-piece Canadian orchestral rock band will be playing from their new record Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress in the city for the first time.

Saturday 24 October will see Bristol come to life with some of the city’s most interesting venues, including Colston Hall, o2 Academy and The Firestation, opening their doors for a day of wildly eclectic bands and DJs.

Boundary pushing experimentalists Battles top a live bill that also includes sets from post-punk legends Wire, Penguin Cafe, live techno outfit Factory Floor, ex-Hype Williams avant-garde musician Dean Blunt, Lone, Chicago juke innovator DJ Funk, Romare, indie rockers Speedy Ortiz, experimental metal troupe Liturgy, Lower Dens, disco group Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators, California based Chastity Belt, Long Arm, Grumbling Fur, Loyle Carner and PC music’s Danny L Harle.

As day turns to night DJs will continue the music in Lakota and Coroners Court with sets from US house don Ron Trent, techno mainstay Objekt, Mike Skinner, Hunee, Barnt, Hamburg techno maven Helena Hauff, nd_baumecker, Avalon Emerson and Berlin’s Discodromo.
