Music streams in the UK have increased by 80 percent since last year

Music streaming in the UK has hit an all time high

According to new statistics published by the British Phonographic Industry, there have been 11.5 billion track streams in the first six months of 2015, whereas there were 14.8 billion in total during 2014, and therefore there has been an 80 percent increase.

“Millions of households are experiencing the joy of instantly playing any song they want,” the BPI’s chief executive Geoff Taylor has said. “All around their house and on any device, [they’re] exploring a universe of new music and classic albums.”

Alongside the increase in streaming, the BFI reports that vinyl sales in the UK are rising 56 percent year-on-year.
