Swans announce live and studio albums, end current incarnation

Michael Gira has said his band are in the studio for what will be the last album by “this version” of Swans

Earlier this year Michael Gira and Swans gave their 1983 album Filth the reissues treatment. According to a message on the band’s Facebook page they’re planning to follow up with a new live album called The Gate.

Proceeds from The Gate will apparently be used to fund a new studio album from the current incarnation of Swans. Recording will begin in September and will apparently be the last Swans record to feature the current line-up.
