Spectres tease alternative Bond Theme

It’s no Sam Smith, thank god

Bristol’s Spectres have revealed that they’ve recorded an alternative Bond theme featuring opulent pop artist Ela Orleans.

“This is one of the highlights of our career.” the band announced on Facebook. “We are honoured to finally announce that we will be singing the next Bond theme song with Ela Orleans.”

The song will compete with the Disclosure-produced Sam Smith track, The Writing’s On The Wall, and will premiere on Huw Stephens’ BBC Radio 1 show. The song will be available digitally as well as on limited-edition gold vinyl 007″, an idea we enjoy very much.

The duet between Spectres vocalist Joe Hatt and Orleans has been touted by a press release as “beautiful, mysterious and deadly serious; like a shaken and stirred version of Blur’s To The End, or a cross between Sonic Youth’s cover of Superstar and The Smiths’ Death Of A Disco Dancer“. We think they’ve hit the nail on the head there.
