Amber Coffman of the Dirty Projectors wrote about an encounter she had with US music publicist Heathcliff Berru of Life and Death PR via Twitter last night.
In the described incident, she recounted how Berru, who she had “just met”, rubbed her ass and bit her hair in front of her friends at a bar. The episode left her “mad” and “mad at [her]self”.
Since speaking out, more women have offered their stories of Berru’s damaging behaviour.
Beth Martinez, another publicist, replied to Coffman stating that “he repeatedly put his hand down my shirt while driving me home after I told him to stop many times.” Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino tweeted, “I was too freaked out to ever say anything. Seriously he’s not a good person on any level.”
Berru has now “stepped down” from his position of CEO and has announced via an official statement that he’s “deeply sorry” and that he feels “shame and sadness”.
