James Murphy breaks silence on LCD Soundsystem

LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy has announced a full tour and a new album

After vehemently denying rumours about LCD Soundsystem’s reformation last year James Murphy shed some light on the circumstances which led to his band getting back together.

Murphy has said that he recently approached band members Nancy Whang and Pat Mahoney about the idea of recording a new LCD Soundsystem album together.

“I’d managed to do a bunch of fun, dumb stuff which mostly annoyed people who were into the band because, well, subway turnstiles and a coffee aren’t LCD, basically.” He says in the note, before going on to mention that Pat and Nancy have agreed to the project, “At any rate, they both said “let’s make an lcd record””

Murphy also spoke about the band’s future live commitments in the post, “We’re not just playing Coachella.” He said, “We’re playing all over. We’re not just having some reunion tour. We’re releasing a record (sometime this year — still working on it, actually), so this isn’t a victory lap or anything, which wouldn’t be of much interest to us.”
