Argentina bans electronic music festivals in wake of Time Warp deaths

The Buenos Aires local government say the measure will be in place until a suitable alternative can be found

Following the tragic deaths of five people at Time Warp festival in Buenos Aires local government have moved to effectively ban electronic music festivals in Argentina.

The mayor of Buenos Aires, Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, has said that until the city can approve legislature to prevent drug abuse at dance music festivals they will not grant permits for any large scale electronic music events in the country.

Time Warp festival has its roots in Germany but has been held in Buenos Aires for the last three years. This year’s festival ended abruptly after six attendees died from suspected drug overdoses during the festival’s first day while a further five people were found in critical condition.
