Head Wound City return with new album A New Wave of Violence

The supergroup, featuring members of The Locust, The Blood Brothers and Yeah Yeah Yeahs have shared their first new music in eleven years

Twelve years ago a group of musicians loosely associated with San Diego’s Three One G records formed a sort of avant-garde grindcore supergroup. Head Wound City was made up Jordan Blilie and Cody Votolato of The Blood Brothers, Nick Zinner from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Justin Pearson and Gabe Serbian, from The Locust and Holy Molar.

While the band only released one EP, played a handful few shows and broke up soon afterwards they gained a loyal cult following. In 2014 Head Wound City announced a string of reunion shows and today they’ve shared their brand new album – A New Wave of Violence. It is the band’s first new material in nearly eleven years. Taking it’s name from a Raymond Pettibon zine of the same name it is out tomorrow (13 May) via Vice Records.

“More depth, less irony,” the band say of the record. “Eliminate irony altogether. Grow up and get rid of it.” Listen to A New Wave of Violence over at Pitchfork.
