Watch T-Pain star as Morrissey in Whatever I Want video

T-Pain plays Morrissey in a shot-for-shot remake of The Smiths’ Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before video

We never knew we needed to see T-Pain recreate an old Smiths music video but we’re so glad it’s happened. The singer stars as a bespectacled Moz in shot-for-shot remake of the video for The Smiths’ classic Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before. The only difference here is that the footage is backed by T-Pain’s new Classixx collaboration Whatever I Want and the original Manchester locations have been swapped out for a Sun-drenched Los Angeles neighbourhood.

The video, shot entirely on a GoPro camera by director Daniel Pappas, premiered last night over on the The Fader. Pappas explained that he wanted the video to reflects T-Pain’s well documented battle against depression, “The video was inspired by the song’s attitude towards doing ‘whatever I want,'” He said, “T-Pain’s well chronicled struggle with depression, the shared sadness of Smiths fans, and how, through all of the depression and sadness, when you look like Morrissey in whatever way you can, everything is going to be okay.”
