David Cameron says Morrissey is his favourite man

“As someone about to enter the political graveyard perhaps I could misquote my favourite man and say ‘let’s meet at the cemetery gates!”

As FACT have pointed out David Cameron made a strange and perhaps misguided reference to Morrissey during prime minister’s questions on Wednesday (29 June). The former prime minster said “As someone about to enter the political graveyard perhaps I could misquote my favourite man and say ‘let’s meet at the cemetery gates!” whilst prodding the opposition.

The prime minister also tried to quote The Smiths’ classic There Is A Light That New Goes Out saying that the song “Actually involves a double suicide,” Before going on to fluff the actual lyrics. “I think the lyrics are ‘If a double decker bus crashes into us, there’s no finer way… than by your side’. I think. I think I’m right in saying.” Ermm, not quite Dave, but a nice try nevertheless.
