One dead and 12 injured after suicide attack at German music festival

A suicide bomber detonated a backpack full of screws, nails and other miscellaneous objects after attempting to enter Ansbach Open Music Festival in Germany last night

The attacker, who has been identified as the only fatality, was a 27-year-old Syrian refugee who had been denied asylum in Germany and was known to the police for previous suicide attempts. The incident occurred at 22:12 PM (CEST) near the entrance to the Ansbach Open music festival moments after the bomber had been denied entrance for not having a ticket.

Around 2,500 people were in attendance at the German festival and the site was immediately evacuated following the explosion.
