Sadiq Khan posts statement about fabric closure

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has posted a statement about the closure of fabric.

“Clubbing needs to be safe but I’m disappointed that Fabric, Islington Council and the Metropolitan Police were unable to reach agreement on how to address concerns about public safety,” he says, pointing out that London has lost 50 percent of its nightclubs and 40 percent of its live music venues in the last eight years. While Khan has voiced his support of the campaign to keep fabric open, he recently claimed in an interview with Time Out that he did not have control over the fate of the club. He has advertised a job role for Night Czar, who will work with Khan the Night Time Commission, businesses, councils, Met Police and Transport For London to make London a “24-hour city.”
