Raster-Noton celebrate 20 years with deluxe hardback Source Book 1

The archival document also features a CD of material from Kangding Ray, Emptyset, Alva Noto, Frank Bretschneider, Senking, Byetone, Atom Heart, Robert Lippok and more

German label Raster-Noton are celebrating a landmark 20 years at the forefront of experimental music with an archive release that encompasses a deluxe hardback book – weighing in at 3kg – and an exclusive CD.

Also included is a preface by one of the founders of the Chemnitz-based label Olaf Bender and a keynote interview by journalist and publicist Max Dax. The main part of the book comprises the extensive catalogue with every release published by the label between 1996 and 2016.

Released on 17 March, the work will implement a modular design allowing for the removal, exchange or addition of pages as the label continues to develop. Further Source Books are planned for the future, each documenting artist profiles, installations, composition techniques and sources of inspiration.
