Be the first to hear the the Roots Manuva-featuring ‘Vitals’ by Coldcut x On U Sound

Listen to the latest single from Outside The Echo Chamber exclusively on Crack

The collaboration between Ninja Tune founders Coldcut and On-U-Sound boss Adrian Sherwood was always going to be a heavyweight affair. Following last year’s 7″ release Everyday Another Sanction, the trio have reunited for forthcoming album Outside The Echo Chamber.

On paper, the record represents a soundclash of the titans: two architects of British sound system culture with over 60 years of shared musical experience between recruit a roll call of artists – from Toddla T to Lee “Scratch” Perry – to take on 2017’s political shitstorm. The sly nod to today’s social climate engendered in the title is no accident – this is club music as political resistance.

Vitals is the second single to be taken from the LP, and today’s exclusive Crack premiere. A piece of retrofuturist, collagist dub the spotlights UK rap maverick Roots Manuva. But for all its Radiophonic Workshop synths, wirey guitars and, of course, oceanic bass, there’s a simple, throwback message. You can listen to the track via the player below.

Want to get your hands on some further listening? Ninja Tune have also just announced a brand new episode of their podcast with Adrian Sherwood and Coldcut.

Outside the Echo Chamber is released on 19 May via digital and limited edition 7″ set on Ahead Of Our Time. Among the guests featured are Lee “Scratch” Perry, Ce’Cile, Toddla T, Junior Reed, Dave Taylor (Switch/With You.)
