Leeds International Festival announces its 2017 debut

The events will showcase music, moving image and technology

Set to launch this year in April, Leeds International Festival (LIF) will be a vibrant series of arts and culture events, with plans to feature two music festivals – Live at Leeds and DRILL.

As a previous winner of the UK Festival Award for Best Metropolitan Festival, Live at Leeds will be leading LIF. The line-up has confirmed Rag’n’Bone Man, Slaves, White Lies, Wild Beasts and Nothing But Thieves as headlining acts. They’ll be joined by the likes of DMA’s, Jagwar Ma, Teleman and Temples.

Beyond music, there’ll be an unconference on 28 April, workshops and industry events.

Director of music, Colin Oliver explains, “This is a fantastic opportunity for the city to celebrate its musical heritage and look to the future to develop an inclusive program that showcases the city’s talent – whatever musical genre.”

He then goes on to say, “The Leeds International Festival also gives us the opportunity to attract performers from further afield, and helps to cement Leeds as an important destination on the international music touring map.”

In association with LIF, Wire will be curating DRILL festival. The event will comprise of performances from Wire, Shobaleader One, Bilge Pump, Azores, Richard Formby and more.

Leeds International Festival will run from 22 April to 30 April.
