The festival has also announced its expansion to Hong Kong and Istanbul
In addition to the line-up, Sónar will be expanding in several ways. This year, they’ll be introducing their new stage, SonarXS, for Sónar By Day as a conduit for new talent and underground sounds. For the stage’s debut, it’ll be hosting Kiddy Smile, Total Freedom, Deena Abdelwahed and DJ Florentino.
Furthermore, the festival will be launching its debut editions in Hong Kong and Istanbul.
The Hong Kong takeover will be launched at Hong Kong Science Park on 1 April, with performances from DJ Shadow, Nosaj Thing, Daito Manabe, Kode9, Evian Christ, Clark, Dave Clarke and Gilles Peterson.
Fusing music with technology, there’ll also be Sónar+, the International Congress for Digital Culture and Creative Technologies. They’ll be visiting Hong Kong and Istanbul for the first time with a range of programs comprising of immersive installations, audiovisual performances featuring the latest trends in VR and digital art, talks and workshops.
