Details of the late icon’s Purple Rain reissue have been revealed, along with a previously unreleased song
Last year, Warner Bros announced their intentions to release a remastered version of Prince’s iconic 1984 album Purple Rain. The artist had agreed to the release prior to his death.
Now, details of the reissue have been announced. The album is slated for release on 23 June and it’ll be available in two packages – deluxe and expanded. Overseen by prince in 2015, both versions will include a remastered version and a bonus disc with 11 previously unreleased songs. Six tracks “have never been released or distributed in the collector or bootleg community”, according to the press release.
The expanded version will feature additional B sides and edits, as well as a DVD recording of a 1985 performance by Prince and the Revolution at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York.
