LCD Soundsystem to perform on SNL, confirm they’ll play new music

Why you should always read the comments

LCD Soundsystem have been locked in for a performance on this week’s episode of Saturday Night Live on 6 May. In a promo featuring Hollywood A-lister Chris Pine and SNL cast member Kate McKinnon, the band’s Dance Yrslf Clean was used.

Entertainingly, the band have been quite active in the comments beneath the video. Responding to a fan asking if there’ll be using the performance to showcase new music, LCD Soundsystem simply said, “Yes.” They even acknowledged a commenter’s observation that “[Dance Yrself Clean] was a 2000 version of In the Air Tonight”. “That so doesn’t make me mad,” ran the reply, suggesting that comparisons to the Phil Collins’ power ballad was something of a compliment.

The group have recently debuted three new songs during their five-show residency at New York’s Brooklyn Steel, entitled Tonight, Call Police and American Dream. However, they also requested that no fans film the shows.
