Playback announce tour celebrating emerging filmmakers

The tour will showcase over 200 films covering a diverse range of genres and categories

Playback has announced that it’ll be taking its interactive exhibition on tour, showcasing over 200 works from young artists and filmmakers. The works on display will delve into a wide spectrum of topics and narratives – from drag queens to racial identity and feminism, to surreal comic tales and the job centre.

A diverse range of mediums will be on display, including hand-drawn animations on the Syrian refugee crisis and explorations of the UK’s major cities such as Bristol, London and Manchester. Poetry, spoken word features and narrative films will cover the wide breadth of disciplines in the exhibition.

On the event, Corrine Orton of Playback said, “Playback draws on the positives of a culture that is increasingly dominated by images and a generation that is highly literate in digital media and film. Young people are often criticised for spending too much time on their phones or screens, but Playback allows young people from all walks of life and backgrounds, to communicate and express their ideas and creativity through the medium of film.”

Viewers will be able to watch selections based on category, and there’ll be curated reels. Playback will be hosted in association with Random Acts, and the exhibition will be touring international film festivals, cinemas and major art galleries across the UK until March 2018.
