Björk to release new single The Gate at midnight

Bjork for Crack Magazine by Felipe Santiago

Her latest track is set to be released sooner than expected

The Icelandic icon has announced that she’ll be sharing her latest single, The Gate, at midnight. Via her Twitter, she stated that the track will be dropped “tonight at midnight your local time”. 12am (NZST) will be 1am (BST).

The Gate is set to be dropped sooner than expected, as last week the artist announced that the digital download would be made available from 18 September, with a vinyl following up on 22 September via One Little Indian Records.

On the single, she said, “The Gate is essentially a love song, but I say ‘love’ in a more transcendent way. Vulnicura was about a very personal loss, and I think this new album is about a love that’s even greater. It’s about rediscovering love – but in a spiritual way, for lack of a better word.”

Furthermore, the accompanying film for The Gate will be showing at London’s The Store Studios from 10am to 6pm (BST) on 16 and 17 September. Hosted by Nowness, the film will be open to the public and admission will be free.
