Forest Swords releases new singles in aid of Puerto Rico and Mexico disasters

Congregate and Free are available to stream and download now

The Merseyside producer Forest Swords has announced the release of two new tracks, entitled Congregate and Free. Available to download now, the two-track single has been released in aid of relief work following Puerto Rico’s Hurricane Maria and Mexico’s two earthquakes. For Congregate, Barnes has self-directed a visual featuring the work of origami artist Fynn Jackson.

Mexico was hit by a 8.1 magnitude earthquake on 8 September and another of a 7.1 magnitude on 19 September. 2,000 historic buildings have been damaged and there’s currently an ongoing search for victims. President Enrique Pena Nieto has said the damage could cost upward of $2 billion (38.1 billion pesos). On 20 September, Puerto Rico experienced a Category 4 hurricane with 150 mph winds, named Hurricane Maria. As it stands, 44% of the Puerto Rican population, made up of 3.4 million residents, are left without drinking water.

The two singles come four months after Forest Swords’ 2017 album Compassion. The two beatless tracks were recorded during the Compassion album sessions earlier this year, and Free was originally a Japanese bonus track.

The artist will be embarking on a UK tour in October, with dates scheduled for Bristol’s The Lantern (16 October), London’s Village Underground (18 October) and Manchester’s Gorilla (21 October).
