Hüsker Dü drummer Grant Hart reportedly dies aged 56

Former Hüsker Dü drummer Grant Hart has reportedly passed away due to cancer.

Variety reported his death this morning, though it is yet to be confirmed by official sources. The Minnesota rock outfit have shared an image of the former band member with no caption.

The hardcore group was first formed in 1979 by Hart, Bob Mould and Greg Norton. After they parted ways in 1988, Hart went on to form rock outfit Nova Mob.

Hart has been cited as an influence for artists and drummers such as Dave Grohl.

Hüsker Dü are set to release the box set Savage Young Dü on 10 November via The Numero Group. The extensive catalogue is a collection of the band’s earliest recordings and performances.
