In the visual, the grime MC also references Drake, Lethal Bizzle and Pogba
Stormzy has dropped a new freestyle via YouTube, entitled 4pm in London. In a Kaylum Dennis-directed visual, the artist freestyles over a remix of Drake’s 4pm in Calabasas. The grime MC lays down some bars referencing the Canadian star, Lethal Bizzle, Pogba, Puff Daddy and, notably, J Hus’ hit Friendly.
Stormzy says:
“Check it, I’ll be posted on the block like a lowlife
I like my watches with no h’ice
You know I’ve got this, I’m so nice”
The verse it references in J Hus’ Friendly goes:
“Posted on the block like a lowlife
I like my Fanta with no ice
She said my lifestyle is no nice”
According to Genius, Stormzy highlights his humble attitude towards fame by linking J Hus’ ice reference to the lack of ice, or jewellery, in his watch.
Furthermore, Stormzy closes the freestyle by teasing a follow-up to his acclaimed debut Gang Signs & Prayer: “They told me back in summer I should drop a summer tune / But I’ve been working fucking hard, the second album’s coming soon“.
