London Overground to operate 24-hour service

The London Overground is set to operate 24 hours a day from 15 December.

The round-the-clock service will be put into effect on Fridays and Saturdays from New Cross Gate to Dalston Junction, and it’ll be extended to Highbury & Islington next year.

Sadiq Khan said, “I’m delighted that we can bring night services to the east London line for the first time ever next month.”

“The Night Tube has proven such a success with Londoners, I know the Night Overground will help thousands more who are working through the night or out enjoying our capital’s nightlife.”

Director of TfL’s rails Jonathan Fox said this will “help support thousands of people working in night-time jobs and boost the local and wider economy.”

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the London Overground. The 24-hour service follows the Night Tube, which was launched in August last year. According to the BBC, around 300,000 journeys are made every weekend on the Night Tube.
