The Cure’s epic two and a-half hour set at Bestival this year has been lovingly packaged up by the great people at Sunday Best Recordings and handed back to the fan in a double-disc that aims to capture the full rapture of one of the most iconic bands of all time. And it does... as much as a live albums will ever be able to. Being able to count the number of classic live albums on one hand proves that it’s a hard trick to pull off, and this one is definitely in the box marked ‘fans’ choice’. The recording is strong and so is the spectacle, but unless you were in attendance, or a massive Cure fan, two and a-half hours is likely to test your resolve. And the noise of a crowd having an immense time while you were doing something a bit more mundane is always going to grate.
