Eagulls
Through a soulful mess of layered guitars and wild, hoarse vocals, Leeds five-piece Eagulls make big, honest tunes that often succeed in being brutish and dreamy in equal measure. In the same vein as Fucked Up, this is from-the-gut melodic punk music that juxtaposes an impassioned and aggressive voice with a thick and thoughtful wall of sound. Vocalist George Mitchell resembles a PiL era John Lydon on debut single Council Flat Blues, whilst their cover of The Wipers’ Mystery is somehow delivered with even more energy than the original. Definitely worth a look.
