The young French designer has quickly gained a reputation for her innovative use of fabric and craftsmanship in the few seasons since launching her label.

For SS16 Steinmetz drawn inspiration from the works of Salvador Dali and Joseph Kosuth, taking wardrobe basics like jeans, polo shirts and tracksuits and reworking them as distorted forms, transforming ordinary pieces into something unique

Featuring handwoven cotton and pleated jersey and denim (the latter a product of recycled old jeans), the collection was a demonstration of craft and technique, worn on models who poked out from holes in whitewashed walls like broken mannequins. A basic midi dress with horizontal black and white stripes faded into transparency from bellybutton to thigh and lengths of pulled cotton hung from a one-shoulder dress and a grey jersey sweater as if melting, or unravelling.

Accompanying the conceptual collection was a handbag range, knotted and pleated in white leather-look vegan fabrics.
