6 New Videos You Need To See
Each week we round-up the best new music videos out there
With the advent of high-speed internet, we’re living in a bit of a golden age for the music video – but we’re also reaching a point where you see at least one of the bloody things every time you open your eyes.
The question is, how do you know which videos are stone cold classics and which are just dust in the wind of the World Wide Web?
As usual, we’re here to help! We’ve rounded up the best clips from the last seven days from the far-flung recesses of the internet.
Check them out after the drop.
Tacocat – I Hate The Weekend
Director: Jessica AcetiWith so many great bands coming out of Seattle I reckon it’s probably time for Netflix Originals to start thinking about a Singles reboot.
Maybe Tacocat could take on Pearl Jam’s role and all the weird, inherent 90s gender steretypes could be replaced by liberal product placement for Uber and Facebook?
Seriously though, Tacocat, one of the best to ever do it.
Sheer Mag – Nobody's Baby
Directors: Philip Steiger & James RodenhouseI can’t get enough of Sheer Mag right now. The Texan four-piece peddle gutsy punk-tinged, Americana that makes me want to start a bar brawl before drunkenly sobbing it out at Makeout Creek.
The video for Nobody’s Baby reminds me off every bad home video ever with some truly dazzling 3D logos and the odd mirror ball thrown in for fun.
Avalon Emerson – The Frontier
Director: Miguel NorigennaAvalon Emerson’s latest slice of squelchy rolling techno is accompanied by some hypnotic visuals. The clip sees the California native riding through Arizona’s Sonoran Desert on a 1970s Honda.
The Frontier a trippy ride through downtempo chill and rippling beats that seems like the perfect antidote to a draggy Monday afternoon.
Mogwai – Ether
Director: Mark CousinsMogwai’s latest album is a soundtrack for the documentary film Atomic which chronicles the history of death in the nuclear age. The band’s new video for Ether borrows footage from the film and it’s a blissfully melancholic taste of what you can expect from the full feature.
