Praça das Artes, São Paulo

Praça das Artes, São Paulo
30 January

Dekmantel has been steadily winning over European dance music fans in the last few years with festivals that always boast stellar line-ups.

This showcase marks their first visit to São Paulo, Brazil. For the event, they partnered with local promoters Gop Tun who have been throwing unforgettable parties for several years now, bringing the likes of Tim Sweeney, Joakim, and Justin Strauss to name but a few.

Taking place at Praça das Artes, in the very heart of the South American concrete jungle, proceedings began with Gop Tun residents Kurc, Nascii and Caio T delivering a mix soulful house and disco whilst revelers began to slowly pour in. As the sun set, party-goers were treated to the sounds of Dutch producer Fatima Yamaha, whose slow-burning classic What’s a Girl to Do was reissued by Dekmantel last summer and went down a storm amongst the Brazilian crowd.

TYV and Gui Scott, the remaining ‘Goppers’, took over the decks with a more pumping sound as night set in, with punters showing as much love for their local heroes as the Dutch entourage. Things took a turn for the delightfully eclectic once Young Marco jumped on, having played with the São Paulo collective last year at a historic party on a helipad, before the night was finished off by the label head honchos themselves, Dekmantel Soundsystem.
