Issa roundup.

In the age of elaborate corporate tie-ins, drip-fed PR strategies and earth-stopping surprise drops, it can be easy to lose track of what’s coming out.

Never fear. We’re here. Here’s five new releases you should listen to this week.

01

MIKE

May God Bless Your Hustle

Hate to blow our own trumpet, but we’ve been fans of Bronx rapper MIKE for a while. We even caught up with him over iMessage for a feature a few issues ago. He’s delivered on our hopes, recently sharing May God Bless Your Hustle – a kaleidoscopic mixtape of fuzzy beats, astute lyricism and a brilliantly sprawling delivery. He’s also been cosigned by Earl Sweatshirt, with whom he occupies a similar musical space.

02

Cornelius

Mellow Waves

Japanese guitar wizard and record producer Keigo Oyamada returns under his Cornelius moniker with this aptly titled suite of complex compositions. This is curative, cinematic music to get lost in.

03

21 Savage

Issa Album

Last year’s Savage Mode – a collaborative album by Atlanta rapper 21 Savage and hit-machine producer Metro Boomin – was undoubtedly one of our albums of the year. Now 21 has dropped his debut album proper. Metro’s delivered a clutch of beats, so have Zaytoven and DJ Mustard. 21’s also done one himself. The album is a perfect re-introduction to one of modern rap’s most intriguing provocateurs.

04

Kacy Hill

Like A Woman

Released last week, the debut album from Arizona singer songwriter Kacy Hill is definitely worthy of your attention. Executive produced by Kanye West (the LP came out on West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint), Like A Woman is a glassy, theatrical arrival from a promising young talent in left-field pop.

Meek Mill - Meekend Music II
05

Meek Mill

Meekend Music II

In spite of the Ls he’s taken in recent times, Meek Mill still has the power to deliver seriously energising rap music. On his latest outing, Meekend Music II, he shows off a few different shades of palette. Save Me is a more subdued ballad before Meek puts the pedal to the metal and brings out his distinctive shouty (in a good way) flow. Long live Meek Mill.
