Day two.

Brief rundown. Katy Perry’s crowdsurfing, Corbyn made our editor cry, Wiley’s peckish, we don’t deserve Solange and Mykki Blanco is the hardest out.

Here’s some talking points from our second full day of activity on Worthy Farm.

01

Katy Perry crowdsurfing

Katy Perry was in a self deprecating, almost apologetic mood (“I didn’t know if you guys still like me”), and her determination to win the hearts of the crowd definitely benefited the show. “I’ve been in the mosh pit, I’ve started the moshpit, I’ve lost my shoes in the mosh pit but found my soul. I’m just like you”, Perry told the crowd. Putting her money where her mouth is, during the finale of Roar she climbed the barrier and threw herself headfirst into the crowd. Fair play.

02

Corbyn making everyone not feel terrified about the future

Those Corbyn Nike tick t-shirts are everywhere, those Corbyn t-shirts with the Run DMC logo are everywhere and that Corbyn footy chant has been inescapable – so it’s really no surprise that Jezza pulled in what’s reportedly one of the biggest crowds on the weekend so far on the Pyramid Stage.

Ahead of introducing Run the Jewels, Corbyn made a passionate, convincing case for the inherent left wing liberal spirit that Glastonbury festival embodies. He described an alternative world which isn’t absolute hell and made sure to throw plenty of shade on Trump. Basically, he nailed it. For those who wanted to double up on some of that optimistic lefty goodness, Corbyn blessed mic straight after in the Left Field tent.

03

WILEY SHOUTS OUT FOOD

“Hold tight my DJ. Hold tight the food… There’s so much food in this place”

04

SOLANGE'S 31st BIRTHDAY WAS A CELEBRATION FOR EVERYONE

From her band’s super slick choreography, to her pitch perfect vocals and her paying tribute to fans in the front rows for F.U.B.U., Solange’s set made everyone feel genuinely fortunate that she had graced us with her presence. The crowd sang her happy birthday too, which was cute.

05

Mykki Blanco ROUND TWO

This is Mykki Blanco’s first time at Glastonbury and he’s winning the festival. Following his performance in the NYC Downlow on Friday night, Saturday saw him take to the stage around 1am at the packed out Pussy Parlure for a set that involved him swinging the mic stand around his head, rapping from the middle of the crowd and starting moshpits while clutching his wig in his teeth.

There’s a case to be made that Mykki Blanco is the greatest rock star of our time.
