Thom from God Damn talks us through five things that “put a wrinkle on his fingernails”

Screamingly good alternative rock duo God Damn have definitely got damnation on the brain on their most recent single. The track recalls those awful times you see someone you’d rather not when you’re out and about, and the embarrassment of having to be polite to even the worst shadows of your past (lest you punch them).

Thankfully, the Wolverhampton band have put together a fitting rebuff in the form of tomb-shaker Dead to Me. Ah, that’s better.

As you head out to the spooky streets tonight, give Thom’s scary selections a once over for inspiration, and to shunt you out of the door, see the new video below too, featuring a very dead member of the band. Spooktacular.

That part in Jeepers Creepers when he's throwing the bodies down the hole

Kills me every time. Then you find out it’s a monster and the film goes shit.

The weird painting in Ghostbusters

I slightly want it for my wall but the cause of many a nightmare when I was a child.

My recurring nightmare as a child

I’m the Ricicles (breakfast cereal) astronaut child, slowing floating down the stairs of my first childhood home. I get to the bottom and Annie Lennox is standing on a plug, talking veeeeeerrrrrrry sllllooowwww and then REALLY FAST. She pushes me into the kitchen where there’s one of those little red children’s tables with the bobbly surfaces and there’s two fish fingers crawling across the table. I open the door to the outside and there’s an old lady burning in a twee wicker house, then a huge iron door crushes the house. End.

Figure that one out, Freud.

My Spanish Train nightmare

On the subject of nightmares, I once had one about a Chris de Burgh song. Something about a train journey.

First song on the first Slipknot album

I was 10 and had to ask a friend round to listen to the album.
