Selections: Leftfield

Welcome back to Selections, a series of exclusive artist-curated Spotify playlists from those in the know.

Compiling a selection of dance cuts this week is Leftfield’s Neil Barnes. Initially helmed by Barnes and Paul Daley, Leftfield were formed in 1989, but it was the seismic debut Leftism that made the act a household name. Alongside the Chemical Brothers, Leftfield helped a new wave of dance music conquer the mainstream and while the duo disbanded in 2002, the much-loved project was later revived by Barnes. This weekend, he’ll be taking over Bristol’s Colston Hall with the project’s widescreen sound as part of Simple Things 2017.

For his playlist, Barnes reaches for a set of emotive dancefloor jams, featuring music from DJ Boring, Trevino, Dense & Pika and Radio Slave.

Leftfield is set to perform Leftism in its entirety at Bristol’s Simple Things Festival, on 21 October.
