Shanti Celeste – Lights

This little exclusive from Bristolian producer Shanti Celeste is taken from the latest Kern compilation on Tresor Records. The time the German label have recruited Tresor club frequenter Objekt to curate a selection of curious house and techno.

Objekt describes the selection as made up of “Tracks that I know I will play and love for years to come.” Going on to add that “Some of these records have been in my bag for years; others are almost as new to me as they are to you. A handful are by lesser known artists whom I admire and who I think deserve wider recognition.”

Shanti Celeste’s Lights is a glassy, donwtempo affair replete with skittering beats and as a bouncy bassline finally rears its head the pay off is as sweet as the build. Lights doesn’t exactly scream dancefloor but what it lacks in thump it makes up for in hazy, lo-fi production.
