Whilst many will have first become familiar with Marvin and Guy through Egoista, their tough, chuggy contribution to John Talabot’s Hivern Discs label, the duo’s partnership stretches back much further.

The Parma-born twosome have been releasing work together since 2011, issuing a series of weirdo missives that included edits of Minako Yoshida and Black Sabbath. Successive efforts were picked up by the likes of Roman Flügel and Ivan Smagghe, assuring them regular slots across the globe dishing out their self-described brand of ‘groovy techno’. More recently, they have released a luxurious EP entitled Music for Race on Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant imprint.

Marvin & Guy’s Crack Mix is a special one. An homage to their youth spent watching Italian trash horror and B-movies, the set is made up almost entirely of seventies and eighties soundtracks dug up on obscure 7 inches from second-hand markets. As you’d expect, it’s a fantastically odd trip through the pair’s distinctive, genre-defying tastes.
