Berlin’s Atonal Festival finalise lineup

Atonal returns to Berlin’s Kraftwerk from 24 – 28 August and they’ve just added a host of new names to the lineup

Each year Berlin Atonal brings an eclectic and experimental mixture of artists to the city’s Kraftwerk – a former factory that also houses the iconic night club Tresor. This year their lineup is overflowing with exciting acts with Death In Vegas, Rashad Becker, Porter Ricks and many more already scheduled to play.

Today they’ve announced some more new additions. Alessandro Cortini returns to the Kraftwerk after his overwhelmingly moving performance last year with the premiere of a brand new audio-visual show called AVANTI based around Super 8 footage taken from the personal archives of his grandparents.

Elsewhere Chilean duo Recent Arts are also debuting a new show called The History of Darkness while Scott Montieth is set for a first with his new work Qawalli Quatsch. Their performances will be complimented by a performance of Steve Reich’s 1967 piece Piano Phase on the Buchla Synthesiser by Max Loderbauer which will take place downstairs before their sets.

Other key acts added to the bill include Mix Mup and Kassem Mosse collaboration MM/KM, a Russell Haswell curated programme on Stage Null for the festival’s opening night, contemporary German experimentalist Marcus Schmickler, techno adventurer Donato Dozzy, Bristolian dubstep stalwart Pinch, and more.
