Berlin’s Pop-Kultur festival launches mentoring programme

Your chance to get involved with the exciting new festival

From the organisers of Musicboard Berlin, Pop-Kultur is a brand new event taking place in the city in August. The schedule is spread across the Berghain complex, set to host live performances, DJs, talks and lectures in Panorama Bar, the Halle am Berghain, the Schlackehalle, the Berghain canteen and the cloakroom.

The organisers have revealed their new mentoring programme, where 150 aspiring producers will team up with mentors from a diverse range of creative fields, including Ólafur Arnalds, Mute and Domino’s Anne Haffmans, Matthew Herbert and Native Instruments. The programme will include workshops with various professionals to convey a realistic and practical view on working in the music business. You can apply to that here.

Also confirmed for the festival are a selection of up-and-coming Berlin acts including Isolation Berlin, Messer, Schnipo Schranke, Die Nerven and Zentralheizung of Death des Todes.

They join a line-up including ex-Slits member Viv Albertine, Inga Copeland, Lapalux, Cologne-via-Colorado beatmaker James Pants, Spanish garage-rock outfit Hinds, Neneh Cherry with Rocketnumbernine and Owen Pallett (who’ll be collaborating with the Berlin-based collective stargaze).

The programme also features lectures and talks from the likes of Andreas Dorau & Sven Regener, Mute founder Daniel Miller, Matthew Herbert and Dr. Tom Fritz.

Pop-Kultur takes place 26-28 August in Berghain. The whole line-up with more than 60 acts can be found at their official website.
