You’ve been a resident at some of the world’s best clubs. What have been some of your proudest moments?

There has been so many these last couple of years, it’s impossible to pin it to just one. But one of them was when I played at Movement festival, which was an amazing experience. Just to be there in Detroit, going to Motown, unreal! But in general, the best moments, wherever you are, depend on the people you’re with.

How would you describe the scene when you were living in London?

I got off the boat from New York and I couldn’t believe my ears at first. At that time, I feel London was mostly about big festivals and ‘super’ clubs, the music scene was quite commercial and mainstream and a lot has changed since then.

I think fabric opening its doors was a turning point for the London music scene. It opened up a wider musical spectrum and the scenes somehow melded together drum ‘n’ bass with hip-hop, house with techno, dub with … dub! And it’s still evolving ‘til this day.

Can you tell us a bit about your collaborations with Tobias Freund, what is it like to work together?

Making music with Tobias is like being three on a playground making mud cakes and eating them, naturally! No but for real, we have a laugh! We laugh so hard we cry, and make something sometimes; “working” doesn’t really fit.

Can you tell us a bit about the mix you made for us? Where was it recorded and what was the idea behind the mix?

It was recorded at home. At the time I wasn’t planning on using it as a podcast, it was a one of those spontaneous moments (in pyjamas with glass of Hennessy), which is why there is no tracklist.

Only the other day I added a few things to bring little extra colour to the mix, some words well said by two amazing human beings, and a song at the very end, which I think suits the added words / message. If anyone recognises who they are, they will have an idea what I’m going on about.

You’re playing at Sonus Festival in Croatia – is this the kind of set we can expect from you there?

As Alan Watts puts it nicely, ”Our consciousness is almost completely preoccupied with memory and expectation. We do not realise that there never was, is, nor will be any other experience than present experience.” Hugs to everyone!
