CHARLIE SNACKS

Norwich isn’t currently one of hip-hop’s central locations but with the release of his debut mixtape, Mickel Jordin’s Scrap Raps, 22-year-old rapper Charlie Pearce, aka Charlie Snacks, is hoping to change that. Having flirted with metal bands and the city’s burgeoning Tropico party cartel, Snacks decided to focus on writing and recording, crafting a brief, but hugely enjoyable slice of sunny, enjoyable hip-hop. Despite telling Crack that, “It was never supposed to be anything more than a little collection of rhymes so that people could see what I’m about” the mixtape attests to the rapper’s love for pop culture and his obvious adoration for hip-hop. When asked how he’d compare himself to his idols, he states, “I am merely paying homage … Serving wine from the 90s, theirs is like merlot from an undiscovered French rebellion cave.” Give it a few years and Snacks could be vintage.
