EDMX – Wicked Drummer EP

Berlin-based outfit Skrufix have made a name for themselves by exploring splintered strands of breakbeat driven dance music through their series of revered parties and off-kilter releases. So it seems like a fitting encapsulation of their ethos that they’ve chosen EDMX, aka UK dance veteran Edward Upton, to inaugurate their new vinyl-only project. Responsible for various aliases, perhaps most notably Rephlex regular DMX Krew, Upton has been banging out acid house and electro funk since the mid-90s, as well as notching up releases on Mathematics, Power Vaccum and his own label Breakin’.

For SCRUV001, Upton has cast his gaze wide. Covering a lot of ground over four dancefloor-focused tracks, the Wicked Drummer EP uproots elements of garage, 2step, acid, electro and breaks soaked up during decades of experience in UK dance music.

SCRUV001 is out 22 September via Skrufix. The EP can be pre-ordered now at Bleep (here), which includes an immediate download of Bedtime Banshee. Listen to our exclusive stream of the Wicked Drummer EP in full below.
