The Brian Jonestown Massacre announce new album

It’s called Third World Pyramid and its out on 28 October. Lead single The Sun Ship precedes it on 16 September

The Brian Jonestown Massacre return. Their last album was 2014’s Revelation but Anton Newcombe basically hasn’t stopped releasing music since then. The +- EP followed later that year, succeeded by Musique de film imaginé in April 2015. I Declare Nothing, a collaboration between Newcombe and Tess Parks was also released and toured last year before yet another Brian Jonestown Massacre record: Mini-Album Thingy Wingy.

None of this is to say that a new BJM album isn’t to be celebrated. Since their creation in 1990, the band have persistently flown the flag for the psychedelic garage rock with a body of work that is incredibly consistent over well over two decades. Third World Pyramid continues in their more recent tendency to mine the world of shoegaze in addition to to their traditional territory of Psychedelia and woozy Rock & Roll.

Lead single The Sun Ship is out on honey coloured vinyl on 16 September and is available to stream now.

Third World Pyramid is out on 28 October via A Recordings.
