A GoFundMe page has been created in solidarity with the mother of two.

On 31 December 2018, a fire broke out in London’s Shurgard Self-Storage warehouse. The building, containing 1,198 rented units, was completely destroyed. Hyperdub signee and Night Slugs affiliate Cooly G (real name Merrisa Campbell) was one of the individuals impacted by the blaze.

After her previous home was destroyed in a flood, she was in the process of property searching. Consequently, she had stored possessions including studio equipment, hard drives and her vinyl collection, as well as furniture and clothes for both her and her children, with Shurgard.

Thus far, Shurgard has not revealed whether they will provide any compensation. In advance of the incident Campbell was mis-sold insurance, meaning that she will not receive sufficient reimbursement for the extent of damage to her belongings.

On 6 February, a GoFundMe campaign was created to raise money for the musician, who has experienced considerable emotional distress, and her two children.

Help Cooly G recover from the incident by donating to this GoFundMe page.
