Happy International Women’s Day.

It’s been over a hundred years of the annual IWD celebration, which was first held in 1911, but the fight is never over. Today is one of celebration and amplification. Around the world, women from all walks of life face different challenges – but the fight is unified with one goal: gender equality and greater representation for women.

We’re using this day to support the charities and organisations that are working towards creating a better future for women. To do this, we’ve compiled a roundup of Bandcamp compilations that are spotlighting women in dance music or donating proceeds towards women-focused charities. Spend today buying music made by women, whilst supporting communities of women.

Radiant Love IWD

Radiant Love IWD Comp Vol 2

Various artists

Berlin-based imprint Radiant Love returns with another vital IWD charity compilation. It follows a well-received first volume, which was released back in 2020. This time around, artists such as Mary Lake and Maara join label affiliates like Roza Terenzi, D. Tiffany and Bliss Inc. on the 13-track project, which oscillates between blissed out and straight-up euphoric tunes. All proceeds from the compilation go to charities working with queer people of colour, refugees and sex workers in Berlin.

Everybody Cares

Following the success of Everybody Cares – a tribute concert that honoured the legacy of Elliott Smith – La Blogotheque, My Favourite Elliott Smith Song podcast and Francis Lung put together this compilation to raise money for a host of LGBTQ+ and women-focused charities. With contributions from Real Estate’s Martin Courtney, Kevin Devine, Blaenavon and more, this charming collection of songs speaks to Smith’s introspective style of work – and all for an important cause.

Moments of dreamy R&B, outsider pop, psychedelic folk and beyond created by rising talents who have been nurtured by this unique organisation.

More Womxn

With musicians such as Loraine James, A’Bear, Loula Yorke, Natalia Beylis involved, MWXIWD is a celebration of music made by womxn, much like the Resonance FM radio show it takes its name from.
