Here we are again. Welcome back to Staying In, your driverless Tesla of online entertainment for the weekend which awaits you.

We are now on our seventh instalment and I think things are going well. This week is particularly enriching – Frank Ocean is found, Meek Mill is full of fire, women are holding serpents, Tim Sweeney is doing David Mancuso justice. Shut the blinds and commence the scroll. Stay levelheaded. Stay businesslike. Stay in.

OSM Live 001: Night Moves (Jane Fitz & Jade Seatle)

Oval Space

Right. So this probably won’t encourage you to stay in, but it’s more than worthy of your attention this week. This epic four hour set from Jane Fitz and Jade Seatle (under her Night Moves alias) was hosted at The Pickle Factory in October and it’s a total masterclass. It’s the debut instalment of Oval Space’s new OSM Live series. If they are all of this standard then consider us hooked.

Frank Ocean Is Finally Free, Mystery Intact

The New York Times

Don’t act like you weren’t till wondering what Frank was up to. For the first time in three years, Mr. Ocean met with New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica. Together, the pair drove round LA and discussed celebrity, The Grammys, love, creative control and his plans for the future. Spoiler: don’t hold your breath for new music. Read the full piece here.

Bird On A Wire

Filmed at the peak of his fame during a 1972 tour of Europe, Tony Palmer’s film paints a poignant portrait of the poet and musician at a time where his profile was growing rapidly and considerably. Restored from over 3,000 fragments of film, the documentary can now be seen in all its original glory. Watch it in full on BBC iPlayer.

Funny and Eerie Vintage Images of Women Handling Snakes

T: The New York Times Style Magazine

I mean, the clue is kind of in the title with this recommendation. British artist Clare Strand has spent years collecting images of women with snakes and taking them herself – spurred on by a fear of them. This piece by Hettie Judah works as a nice primer for Strand’s book, Girl Plays with Snake, which is out now. Find out more here.

Giggs: The Landlord Headline Show

LinkUpTV

Following up on the huge success of his recent fourth LP, The Landlord, Giggs recently played the biggest UK headline show of his career. The sold out date marked a big achievement for Giggs who has a history of getting his London shows strategically shut down by London police forces. Thankfully, LinkUpTV were down the front to capture the whole thing on film. Skip to 25:54 for our highlight, Scouse MC Aystar delivering his show-stealing verse from The Best.

BIS Radio Show #860 with Tim Sweeney (Tribute to David Mancuso)

WNYU FM

Club culture lost a true pioneer this week when NYC legend David Mancuso died age 72. Famed for turning dancefloors into limitless, carefree utopias for all in attendance, the DJ and dance music trailblazer left an indelible footprint on the culture as a whole. Here, Tim Sweeney dedicates a whole show to paying tribute and he does Mancuso justice. Wall-to-wall anthems.
